The John Lewis Piano

This is a Japanese cd import of The John Lewis Piano on Atlantic Records. Mainly solo piano from one of the most influential members of the Modern Jazz Quartet. Sparse drumming and bass can be found on 2 of the seven tracks. Very moving at times and proof that John Lewis was a hell of piano player, with or without backup. Good for Sunday morning lounging.

AaronB,

You've got no idea how long I've been searching for this one! It's rarer than hens' teeth.

I used to have it on LP and haven't heard it for many years.

Lewis's subsequent solo CDs were disappointing compared to this beauty.

Now, if I could only find Afternoon In Paris - the LP he made with Sasha Distel.

Thank you so much for sharing this.

Let me know if you would like to hear the Afternoon In Paris - solo piano LP - that he made for Dreyfus in 1979 (rare).

Wow, aaronb - that's great news about the Lewis / Distel LP!!

I'm really looking forward to hearing it again.

How about sending me a list of your jazz wants - and if I have anything I'll rip and upload it for you.

Greetings and a Happy New year to you and your family - Mel.
